Zen Painting/禅画
Japanese culture has always appreciated Zen painting for its religious content, but it is only recently that Western artists, critics, and curators, particularly in the United States, have begun to appreciate the unique aesthetic that is present in zenga, or Zen painting. Zenga art is asymmetrical, without regular, recognizable geometrical shapes to anchor the eye. It is bold and immediate, and almost always created spontaneously, in a single breath.
